Heintzmann South Africa (PTY) Ltd (Heintzmann SA) is the proud manufacturer and supplier of quality road safety products. Heintzmann SA has been an established brand in the Southern African road safety industry for more than 15 years, and forms part of the Heintzmann Holding GmbH – based in Bochum, Germany. The Heintzmann Group recently celebrated 160 years in the manufacturing of steel safety products. Heintzmann Holding GmbH originally only manufactured products for the mining industry, but for the past 60 years also produced steel safety products for road infrastructure. The high priority on safety in mines to save lives has been converted in the manufacturing of tested road safety systems. The Heintzmann philosophy is to protect all road users – pedestrians as well as motor vehicle occupants. Therefore our firm believes in steel systems.
What We Do
Heintzmann Holding GmbH manufactures passive road safety equipment in factories all over the world and supplies various subsidiaries from these factories. In conjunction with this, Heintzmann SA sources the majority of their products from locally based South African suppliers and have others manufactured locally under licence. In doing so Heintzmann SA supports their local economy.
Heintzmann Holding GmbH (Germany) is internationally renowned as specialists in their field and has a wide range of technologically advanced systems to meet all traffic safety barrier requirements. All steel guardrails and barriers for permanent and temporary use are crash-tested according to SANS 51317-2 ( EN 1317-2 ) standards and have containment levels ranging from N2 to H4b in various production standards such as RAL-RG 620 (Germany), NF (Norm Francaise), COPRO (Belgium), ASTRA (Swiss) etc. and also the ERF (European Union Road Federation). In addition to SANS 51317-2 Heintzmann is also accredited with SANS 1350:2023.
The factories are also accredited according to the EN ISO 9001.
In addition to providing technologically advanced tested systems, Heintzmann SA also offers the SANS 1350 3.81m barrier system with all the relevant accessories. In addition, Heintzmann SA supplies a wide range of quality road accommodation products. Our products include delineators, road studs, waterfilled safety barriers, traffic cones, speed ramps, bases and many more.
Due to Heintzmann SA’s extensive presence in the Southern African market, we have secured distribution agreements with various international producers of cutting edge road safety products.

Vario-Guard:
The flexible steel barrier is ideal for permanent or temporary road applications. It is widely used for protecting road work sites as well as contraflow situations. It is especially suitable where road space is limited. Vario-guard has a very high containment capability, tested and approved to H2. It is often used at the edge of dangerous road sections or as a median barrier, and to reduce the potential for head-on accidents. The 900mm high barrier has excellent redirecting characteristics. The system also offers crashworthy gates (Gate-Guard and Mobile Rail) for use of emergency vehicles and for contra flow requirements.

The OBEX Crash Cushion family covers an extensive range of options suitable for all applications for Motorways and Urban environments.
